The Kellermann Foundation’s mission is to provide resources for health, education, spiritual outreach and economic empowerment for the benefit of the Batwa and adjacent communities.

Healthcare
Our full-service 155-bed hospital is a regional center of excellence extending public health outreach to remote areas, vastly improving life in this region of Uganda.
Batwa Community Development
We partner with the Batwa to help them help themselves sustainably by of achieving ongoing goals. This includes including education, housing, income production, cultural preservation, agriculture, and spiritual outreach.
Nursing Education
With an annual enrollment of about 450 students, our nursing school provides the only RN-level three-year degree in the region empowering Ugandans to improve rural healthcare.
The Batwa Story
The Batwa are one of the oldest people groups in Africa. For millennia these equatorial hunter-gatherers depended on their ancestral home, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

In just over two decades, support of the Kellermann Foundation has helped create a wider network of programs now offering new possibilities to the Batwa and their neighbors. The open-air clinic has blossomed into one of the most successful hospitals in Uganda and an advanced-level nursing school. The Batwa of this region now have access to educational support at all levels, permanent homes, gardens, spiritual outreach, literacy, economic development, and more.
