Would you like to be an advocate for stellar Ugandan nursing students?

Uganda Nursing School Bwindi (UNSB), an affiliate of Uganda Christian University, opened in 2013 with the help of Kellermann Foundation supporters. It is currently flourishing with 45 students at four different levels of the diploma-level (RN equivalent) program. As enrollment increases, your partnership is needed to help the school grow and overcome challenges such as scholarship needs, internet connections, and transportation.

How can you help?

Consider your circle. Do you have contacts with:

  • Nurses, physicians, or other healthcare providers?
  • Professional societies or organizations that focus on medical or nursing fields?
  • Friends and family with interest in the medical field, Africa, or social justice?
  • Church groups, schools, or civic organizations?
  • Friends in social media?

How can you share with them? Here are some ideas.

  • Ask your school, church, civic, or professional organization if you can present the story of nursing education in Bwindi at an upcoming meeting. (Or invite us to.)
  • Would their newsletter or website be interested in a feature article about nursing education in Uganda? Share your own story, or ask us for material.
  • Invite friends and colleagues to an in-home event. We can provide you with pamphlets, nursing student profiles, and more to help you tell the story.
  • Pass a Kellermann Foundation newsletter or brochure to interested friends or leave a copy in your office or doctor’s waiting room. We are happy to provide more.
  • Start a social media campaign. Start by following us on Facebook and Twitter, and sharing our posts and news, letting people know how they can get involved.
  • Hold a fundraiser. Host a cocktail party, or round up sponsors for a special hike, run, or bike ride.  Get creative!

We’d love your help to build UNSB’s future. Contact us to get started!

    • I am the director of Dreamaker, a child sponsorship program operating in Kanungu, Uganda. We had two male students pass entrance exams at UNSB and while I was there in January 2017 they ask me to raise support for their fees at UNSB. They want to begin in the May class. Our national director in Uganda, Betty Kasaija, did not have the necessary fee structure information so I would like to speak with someone about this. The paper the young men showed me said that their tuition fees were $670 per term but it did not say how many terms there were or what the other requirements were. I would like to start a medical scholarship fund for our students but need more information before approaching donors.
